Don Jesse Is A Liar

"We take the Curse of Cain and slide it over to that little trash can, and that's that!"

From lifeafter.org/curse_of_cain.asp:
“To whom it may concern: You should be aware that Don Jesse, official spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is telling journalists and non-mormon inquirers that the Church "has never taught that black people were cursed nor the descendants of Cain. Some members of the church may have held that view in the past, but it was never sanctioned by church leaders." When asked why black men could not hold the Priesthood before 1978, Mr. Jesse responded: "Now that's a good question! We really don't know the answer. Many people have speculated or tried to provide answers, but we really don't know the reason."
Don Jessie is a straight up LIAR.

From the Mormon Book of Abraham:

1:21 Now this king of Egypt was a descendant from the loins of Ham, and was a partaker of the blood of the Canaanites by birth.

1:22 From this descent sprang all the Egyptians, and thus the blood of the Canaanites was preserved in the land.

1:23 The land of Egypt being first discovered by a woman, who was the daughter of Ham, and the daughter of Egyptus, which in the Chaldean signifies Egypt, which signifies that which is forbidden;

1:24 When this woman discovered the land it was under water, who afterward settled her sons in it; and thus, from Ham, sprang that race which preserved the curse in the land.

1:25 Now the first government of Egypt was established by Pharaoh, the eldest son of Egyptus, the daughter of Ham, and it was after the manner of the government of Ham, which was patriarchal.

1:26 Pharaoh, being a righteous man, established his kingdom and judged his people wisely and justly all his days, seeking earnestly to imitate that order established by the fathers in the first generations, in the days of the first patriarchal reign, even in the reign of Adam, and also of Noah, his father, who blessed him with the blessings of the earth, and with the blessings of wisdom, but cursed him as pertaining to the Priesthood.

1:27 Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry;

In addition to these passages of "scripture," Joseph Smith expounded very clearly on the "curse of Cain" doctrine:

"The power, glory and blessings of the Priesthood could not continue with those who received ordination only as their righteousness continued; for Cain also being authorized to offer sacrifice, but not offering it in righteousness, was cursed." ("Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith," p. 169.)

"I referred to the curse of Ham for laughing at Noah, while in his wine, but doing no harm. Noah was a righteous man, and yet he drank wine and became intoxicated; the Lord did not forsake him in consequence thereof, for he retained all the power of his Priesthood, and when he was accused by Canaan, he cursed him by the Priesthood which he held,...and the curse remains upon the posterity of Canaan until the present day." (ibid, pp. 193-194.)

So when church spokesman Don Jesse says:
the Church "has never taught that black people were cursed nor the descendants of Cain. Some members of the church may have held that view in the past, but it was never sanctioned by church leaders."
...he's a bald-faced liar. Not only is the curse of Cain doctrine expressed in "modern scripture," the doctrine was "sanctioned" and very clearly taught by Joseph Smith Jr. The book "Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith," from whence these quotes come, has been published by the LDS Church's own book company and sold in its own bookstores for decades, therefore the teaching is sanctioned by church leaders.
When asked why black men could not hold the Priesthood before 1978, Mr. Jesse responded: "Now that's a good uestion! We really don't know the answer. Many people have speculated or tried to provide answers, but we really don't know the reason."
That's another lie. The specific, detailed reasons for the priesthood ban are given in the passages quoted above. They have been widely published for many decades.

Curse Of Cain Doctrine Called "Personal Opinion" By Official Church Spokesman (2003)

How LDS Church Public Affairs Has Been Trying To "Cover-Up" The Curse of Cain Legacy!

For 150 years Church leaders (Presidents and Apostles) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have said that Negroes are "cursed" and "the descendants of Cain". This was NEVER presented as "mere opinion". This was called "a doctrine of the Church" in at least two Official Statements by The First Presidency, and in dozens of private letters, and in hundreds of General Conference and Stake Conference talks by LDS Church Presidents and Apostles; including those of Spencer W. Kimball.

This is from the August 17th, 1949 Official Statement of the First Presidency on the Negro Question:

"The attitude of the Church with reference to Negroes remains as it has always stood. It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord, on which is founded the doctrine of the Church from the days of its organization, to th effect that Negroes may become members of the Church, but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time." (quoted in Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Spring 1973)

The Curse of Cain Doctrine (that Negroes are the descendants of Cain and inherit his cursed) was always presented as a doctrine of the Church from its origin in 1848. The Church has never repudiated it. Official Declaration 2 did not repudiate this doctrine. Now, Donald Jessee, official Church Spokesman, is saying that it "was not now nor then the Church position." That's a LIE!

Since 1996 I have been claiming that the Public Affairs Office and the Office of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been attempting to deceive the public regarding the Curse of Cain legacy. Over those years I've been asked for "evidence". I had none other than notes from telephone calls I and some of my friends had made to Public Affairs and the OFP wherein we were told the following:

[Paraphrase from many conversations]"No, the Church has never taught that black people were ever cursed or ever the descendants of Cain. Neither the Church nor Church leaders have ever taught that or held that belief. Some of the Members may have believed such things, but they were never approved by Church leaders."

That's a LIE! A "BIG LIE"! That was told many many times to many different people since 1996 up until today by official Church spokesmen in Public Affairs and the Office of the First Presidency. Who is behind this?

The Church refused to issue any public statement when asked to by journalists. Journalists who called (like Larry Stammer of the LA Times) were simply "put off" for eternity. He and they were told, "Let us get back to you on that!" After almost 10 years of waiting, these journalists are still waiting for an answer.

Again, I had no "proof" of what I'm saying other than the notes I took of telephone conversations. Many Mormons were claiming that I was a "liar" and that the Church would never say such things.

Now...I have PROOF!

In 2003 the official Church Spokesman, Donald Jessee, said that any statement by Church leaders regarding blacks (this would include the Curse of Cain doctrine) were "personal opinions" and the reason why blacks were excluded from the Priesthood is "not known".

That is a LIE!

The letter is from Donald Jessee of LDS Church Public Affairs. Donald Jessee is the official Spokesman for the Church. The letter says that anything said before 1978 was "personal opinion" and "is not then or now the position of the Church".

This letter "sweeps away" the Curse of Cain Legacy! It declares that the Curse of Cain doctrine was mere "personal opinion" and NEVER the position of the Church!

Do you believe that? If so, I've got a Bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you....TWICE!

Public Affairs is LYING!

Here is a copy of that letter: (Click to See): http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/blackmor...

For more info on how Public Affairs has LIED to non-mormon inquirers (telling them the Church "has never taught that black people are cursed or the descendants of Cain") then go HERE!

www.angelfire.com/mo2/blackmormon/q56...

Perhaps this is time to call Public Affairs and ask: "What's going on?"

You can call them at: 1-800-453-3860.

If the Church wishes to repudiate the Curse of Cain legacy it should do so publicly. However, to state that the Curse of Cain doctrine was "personal opinion" and that Church leaders "didn't know the reason" they were excluding black men from the Priesthood and all black Mormons from Mormon Temples for 150 years is a BIG LIE and needs to be exposed as such!

No more "Lying for the Lord"! Contact the Salt Lake Tribune and demand they investigate this! Also contact Salt Lake City Weekly and ask them to do a story on "The Curse of Cain Cover-up". The Church needs to take responsibility for its past by either publicly repudiating the Curse of Cain (admitting it was a mistake), or at least telling Public Affairs to STOP LYING and saying "it was not now nor then the Church position". They are LYING, and that's not right.
